Sept 2 - Pre-Trip - Planning and Packing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction:
Where to start…
It has been almost two years when the New Friends & Old Friends cruise began to take shape. We were enjoying a long overdue dinner with friends that we rarely see. Over the years life got in the way and the exchange of Christmas cards has been our primary means of communication. We clicked immediately over that meal, and it was like we had been together last week. After we both recounted tales of children, retirement, and our travels - an epiphany struck! We really should take a trip together! Noreen and Bob had already planned a trip and asked us if we would like to join. When we found out it would hopefully allow us to see the Northern Lights, it took seconds to say, absolutely. These astronomical phenomena events and the chance to explore the fjords of Norway was what sealed the deal. Both have been on our bucket list for years! What about friends? The four of us agreed the more the merrier, so we each asked our friends if they were interested in joining us on the trip. As months passed our numbers grew, and then friends asked their friends. Now our voyage will take eighteen of us across northern Europe and above the Artic Circle. The “New Friends & Old Friends” group had been formed. No one in our group knows everyone who will be travelling with us. Hence, the name - “New Friends & Old Friends”.
Many of us have additional travel plans either before or after our adventure on NCL PRIMA. So, in writing the blog it will only start with our pre-trip to England and then continue after we rendezvous with the gang in Southampton. Then the time will come… Cast off the lines - our journey has begun northward on the NCL PRIMA.
